Energy is a Solutions page in the Knowledge Base that is designed to help the Planning pillar of goBEYOND. Contribute to our Knowledge Base by adding the energy initiatives, policy, or assessment models that are used on your campus.

Energy production is the world's largest source of GHG emissions. This section explores alternative forms of energy production, and how to apply them on your campus. For energy efficiency initiatives, see Buildings.

The Campus Climate Network refers to energy as a technology or power source which has the ability to provide society with heat, electricity, and indirectly, transportation. Though energy is perhaps the most important issue to understand and address, the Campus Climate Network's holistic Knowledge Base understands the importance associated with Transportation, Food, Buildings, Economy, Civic Engagement, Governance, and Purchasing.

Given the centrality of energy issues to climate change it is no surprise that there are now some Energy Best Practices for Campus. Addressing the energy problem will not only address the longterm consequences of climate change, but prepare our society for post-peak oil and eventually the end of financially viable oil.
