GHG Inventory is a page within Planning Areas under the Solutions heading in the Knowledge Base.

Calculating your school's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is an important step in planning. There are many tools for calculating GHG emissions, including:

  • The Climate Registry [1] is a nonprofit partnership developing a greenhouse gas emissions measurement protocol. The BC government has joined this partnership to help track its progress in reducing GHG emissions [ttp://www.climateactionsecretariat.gov.bc.ca/clas/mediaroom/fact/registry.html].
  • The Clean Air Cool Planet (CACP) [2] Campus Carbon Calculator is a GHG inventory program specifically designed for campuses, and is recommended by the ACUPCC [3].
  • The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) [4] of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the World Resources Institute (WRI) is a widely used and internationally recognized protocol.

Schools can also develop their own inventorying methods.

For examples of completed greenhouse gas emissions reports, see AASHE GHG Inventories.
