McRoberts alumni Robin Chang, Elissa Chang, and Luisa Irene Fisher were among the very first youth involved in the 2006-2007 SHS Pilot Project, sitting on the SHS Youth Steering Committee and registering their school for 3 SHS class programs. McRoberts was again involved in 2008 through inviting SHS Staff to co-facilitate SHS class programs with 3 Richmond classes from McRoberts and McNair at their annual district-wide Eco-Fest. Rosalind Poon, the Sustainability Coordinator for the Richmond School District has modeled how school districts can support student-led school initiatives like no other district involved in the SHS Network.
