Lord Byng Secondary just joined the SHS network in 2007, through the participation of Catherine Denny, one of its student leaders in the SHS Youth Action Gathering this past summer. She has helped build the SAC at Byng, and is working on the Destination Conservation program this year. Student leaders from Byng have been working with King George and Kitsilano in organizing a Vancouver School District-wide Youth Summit in April 2008 to make recommendations for the VSB to enact to reach their new sustainability goals. As Catherine Graduated in 2008, SHS Project will be working with Check your Head to re-establish contact with Byng and find out more about what they are up to!

Sustainability Advisory Committee

Lord Byng actually has one of the best working models of a functioning SAC - they have a monthly "Collaborative Day", when classes get out at 2pm so school community members (including administrators!) can meet at one time when everyone is available.
