According to the BC Ministry of Advanced Education, [1] North Island College is "a comprehensive community college with a mandate to serve the northern two-thirds of Vancouver Island and the mainland coast from Desolation Sound to Swindle Island. The college has campuses in Courtenay, Campbell River, Port Hardy and Port Alberni, plus centres in other communities throughout the college region. The college offers both classroom instruction and distance learning in a broad range of programs."
