The Power of Purchasing
Sometimes the best way to make is with your pocket book. By choosing where to spend your money you can make a statement about what kind of businesses we want in our world.
Ethical purchasing is a means for individuals, as consumers, to reclaim their citizens' rights and responsibilities by putting their money where their values are. Though seemingly small, these choices can help foster a more responsible economy that supports human rights, social justice, and environmental sustainability. We can also encourage ethical purchasing on our campuses. Postsecondary institutions are enormous purchases and consumers of paper products, of food and of other goods. This present a significant challenge as far as reducing consumption but also an opportunity to support eco-friendly sustainable alternatives.
