Youth have always been at the forefront of social movements: and youth are in the driver’s seat of goBEYOND. As youth we recognize that we have the drive, and determination to make change happen.

The Training Pillar of goBEYOND is designed to give you the skills you need to be an effect leader for climate solutions. Through conferences, workshops, networking, and resource guides, goBEYOND provides valuable training that will not only help you succeed in campus organizing but transfer over to the workforce and other initiatives.

The goBEYOND Approach

One of the first priorities of the Campus Climate Network is connecting youth and creating mechanisms to share info. Our online presence and frequent training opportunities are core to this mandate.

As part of goBEYOND we have developed a training framework that will give you the skills in the basic areas needed to run an effective campus group. We have developed four streams of training in the following areas:

  • Research: The Research stream teaches you the techniques of using information as a political tool. During the beginging trainings, this stream explores how to ask the right questions, and find good information. In latter trainings, learn how to understand policy, conduct a greenhouse gas inventory, or a sustainability audit of your campus.
  • Communication: The Communication stream explores the basic concepts of communicating your message, including tips on dealing with the media, how to develop a communications plan, and promotional techniques. In later trainings we cover public speaking, communicating with diverse stakeholders, and persuasive dialogue.
  • Coordination: The Coordination stream is designed to provide resources on how to create and coordinate dynamic, resilient teams that will achieve desired goals. Learn how to recruit and retain volunteers, how to fundraise and manage and budget, and how to plan stellar events.
  • Facilitation:The Facilitation stream will teach you how to run effective meetings, and group processes. This stream also includes collaborative planning, conflict resolution and concencus building.

The goBEYOND team also has trainings on: strategic planing, campaign development, and much more.
